A guitar worth waiting for
Avron’s guitar, made by British luthier Oren Myers, has a clear bell like quality and impressive balance across strings and frets.
After placing his order back in November 2024, Avron finally picked up his guitar from Oren Myers, a UK based luthier. An experience made even better by a beautiful, sunshine-filled drive through Oxfordshire.
Avron chose Oren after playing one of his guitars at a festival showcasing English luthiers. His instruments stood out immediately, the tone just resonated more than anything else he tried.
This guitar features a spruce top with birdseye maple back and sides, and a construction inspired by Torres. One interesting detail is the reinforced soundhole, which is said to reduce air turbulence, create a mini “tornavoz” effect, and strengthen the soundboard.
Oren’s craftsmanship and attention to detail are exceptional. The rosette and matching headstock inlay feature a stunning fishscale design inspired by an ancient Greek vase, Oren’s first time using this pattern in this way having recently using it on for the back inlay of his No. 140 “Ancient Greece” guitar. Even the Alessi tuners have bespoke engraving to match, making this a truly unique, one-of-a-kind instrument.
But as beautiful as it is, the sound is what really sets it apart. It’s clear and bright, yet smooth and lyrical, with excellent balance across all strings and positions. The responsiveness is incredible, and the setup makes it an absolute joy to play.
After spending time with it, Avron can honestly say it’s the best guitar he has ever played. Its responsiveness and dynamic range means it gives you exactly what you put into it. There is no hiding mistakes, which actually pushes you to play better.
Avron is now looking forward to many years of enjoyment with this remarkable instrument.
