Our noticeboard is a place to share news, concerts, workshops and other events that may be of interest to our members and the wider classical guitar community.
We’re always happy to support our members who wish to share eventsand connect with other guitar societies, performers and organisations, particularly across London, and to help our members discover more opportunities to play, listen, learn and meet fellow guitar enthusiasts.
A New Guitar Society in Hampstead
We’re delighted to welcome the arrival of the Hampstead Classical Guitar Society, a new guitar and lute society launching in Hampstead later in 2026.
Based just down the road from Lauderdale House, the new society will offer informal monthly performance sessions where guitarists and lutenists of all standards can play for one another in a friendly setting. Many of the sessions will also be joined by guitarist and lutenist Emanuele Addis, founder of the Londinium Consort, who will provide players with feedback, encouragement and musical and technical guidance.

We see the new society as a great addition to the classical guitar community in North London and hope there will be plenty of opportunities for Lauderdale and Hampstead members to get to know one another, attend each other’s events and, perhaps in the future, collaborate on concerts, workshops and other projects.
The Hampstead Classical Guitar Society is currently inviting interested players to join its waiting list ahead of its launch.

Felixstowe Classical Guitar Festival
12-13 September 2026 | Harvest House, Felixstowe
The inaugural Felixstowe Classical Guitar Festival brings together performers, composers, guitar makers, players and enthusiasts for a weekend celebrating the classical guitar.
Held in the beautiful Edwardian surroundings of Harvest House, overlooking the Suffolk coast, the festival will feature outstanding performances, competitions, showcases and a masterclass, as well as opportunities to meet fellow guitarists from across the UK.
The weekend welcomes advanced players, enthusiastic amateurs, students, teachers and anyone with a passion for the classical guitar.

Sabino de Bari - new book released!
One of our members, Sabino de Bari, has released his book In Lontananza: Guitar Works by Sabino de Bari.
This collection features his original works for solo classical guitar, as recorded on his album In Lontananza. The compositions blend contemporary classical structures with jazz and blues harmonies, often enriched by tickling dissonances that highlight de Bari’s distinct voice as both a composer and performer.
Stylistically, the compositions draw from Mediterranean musical sensibilities, warmth, fluidity, and natural imagery, balancing classical forms with contemporary textures and expressive freedom.

Lauderdale Guitar Society is delighted to help promote this very special musical event, kindly brought to our attention by Sara.
Bridget’s Big Birthday Concert promises to be a wonderful evening of outstanding guitar performances, celebration, and community spirit, all in support of the MS Society.
Taking place at the beautiful St Mary-le-Bow Church, London, the concert features an exceptional lineup of acclaimed guitarists and musicians coming together to celebrate Bridget Mermikides and support a truly worthwhile cause.
We encourage everyone who enjoys classical guitar played by some of the UK’s finest guitarists to support this fantastic evening for a very good cause.

The English Music Festival 2026
Featuring Fábio Fernandes,The Guitar’s Voice in England
Lauderdale Guitar Society is pleased to highlight another exceptional musical event for guitar enthusiasts and lovers of English music.
As part of the Nineteenth English Music Festival, acclaimed young Portuguese guitarist Fábio Fernandes will present a special late-evening recital entitled The Guitar’s Voice in England in the magnificent surroundings of Dartington Hall’s medieval Great Hall.
The programme explores the rich and varied voice of the guitar through English music across the ages, from Henry Purcell to contemporary works, including music written especially for Fábio Fernandes by composer Richard Storry. The recital also features works connected to Frank Bridge, Thomas B. Pitfield, John Gardner, and Ernest Shand.
